Evan Bayview Crime Blotter 6/9/10

The standout from this week's crime blotter…
On June 2nd at 9:00 am, Officers Oropeza and Lee responded to a call of a man assaulting people in the area of 3rd and 20th Sts. They located four victims of a bizarre incident involving a robbery and several seemingly random assaults. As a result of their investigation, they learned that the first victim had just walked out of a coffee shop holding her morning coffee in her hand when she was approached by a suspect who threatened to harm

Evan Bayview Crime Blotter 5-14-10

The Bayview Crime Blotter has really picked up in recent months. Not in terms of crime, but in the quality of writing. Check out this edition below.

On May 11th at 11:30pm, Officers Zeltser and Haro were on routine patrol in the area of Newcomb and Newhall when they attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic infraction. The car did not immediately pull over and the officers saw that the passenger was shifting around a lot in his seat. The car finally came to a stop after se

Wai Yip Tung Rebuild Potrero development density survey

One of the hot topic discussed in Rebuild Potrero's community meeting on Tuesday is the development's density. People have asked how does the proposed project compares to other condo development such as The Potrero (Whole Food). Unfortunately the host do not have any information to answer this question.

In order to find out, I have set out to do a survey myself. I have gathered information on a number of large condo projects around Potrero Hill. I measured their area using satellite map… Continue

Arik Lifschitz Report from today's Boosters meeting

I went to the Boosters meeting today on the redevelopment of Potrero Terrace and Annex. I thought I'd post a brief report for those who couldn't attend. Others who have been present are of course welcome to add/ammend.

A huge turnout with dozens of people standing in the back of the room, all present for an hour long presentation followed by Q&A. All part of the neighborhood were represented (Hill, Terrac, and Annex). Overall it was a very civil affair and I suspect much of the i… Continue

dena fischer Why I love Daniel Webster Elementary School

I love Daniel Webster because it’s a small school where staff and teachers are tight knit and care deeply about their students. With enrollment and test scores on the rise, fresh paint and DreamWorks designed murals, and a developing edibles garden where there used to be concrete, DW is a school coming to life. Our growing community is committed to building on the improvements made since 2005 when DW was threatened with closure. Our Spanish Immersion Program, established in 2008, is continuing… Continue
